BIOGRAPHY

My name is Nick Niland, and I am running for Youngsville City Council. First and foremost, I am a husband, father, son, and brother. My family means everything to me, and I work every day to try and be the very best person that I can be to provide a great life for my family, to be a role model for my son, and to be a proud representative for all my family.

When I moved to Youngsville 8 years ago, I maybe knew 5 people. Over the past 8 years, my involvement in our community is how I have met almost every single one of my supporters. It has been at community trash pick-up days, at several events I’ve either hosted, helped plan, or volunteered at. It has been through the community organizations that I have been involved with or the local businesses that my family and I frequent. My service to the community over the past almost decade is a testament to the type of community representative that I am.

I know how to serve and be a leader in my community, because I have already been doing this for years. Which is why I, Nick Niland, am running to be your next public servant and community leader on the Youngsville City Council.

EDUCATION

I am a graduate of St. Thomas More, I received my bachelors in Kinesiology from UL with a focus in Education, I received my RN degree from LSUE, and I obtained my Masters in Business Administration with a focus in Healthcare Administration from WGU.

BUDGETARY AND FINANCIAL EXPERIENCE

Throughout my career, I have managed budgets of varying sizes across different roles. As a manager at Lafayette General, I was responsible for overseeing my department’s P&L statements. I ensured appropriate staffing levels, minimized the use of contract labor, and optimized the utilization of supplies and equipment to reduce waste and unnecessary expenses. In my role as Treasurer for the LSNA District IV, I oversaw financial operations, ensuring we adhered to the budget and maintained adequate funds for events, scholarships, and other initiatives. In my current role as Director of Quality at IMC, I oversee my departments budget, as well as various contracts with vendors that we use within my department. I also meet with outside vendors to obtain quotes for services that we could potentially utilize within the organization.

Driving Action and Innovation

I take pride in my ability to take decisive action, a quality instilled in me by a coach who once said, "Don’t talk about it, be about it." This mindset drives my commitment to putting plans into motion and staying actively involved in the process. As an innovative thinker, my contributions have been recognized during my leadership at LGMC, where I received the Innovation Excellence Award. My passion for community improvement was further acknowledged when I was honored with the inaugural Rotarian Impact Award by the Youngsville Rotary Club for my dedication and support to the community. Additionally, my commitment to serving others is reflected in my nursing career, where I was recognized as one of twenty healthcare professionals statewide with the "Face of Healing" award in 2019.
